Hello All,

I don't know what things look like in your neighborhoods, but my street has seen neither salt nor plow, and based on the amount of ice on my back deck, I must assume the roads are awful. So, keep safe, keep warm, and we'll try agin on Tuesday night!

February - March Rehearsal Annoucnement

Attention Music Students and Parents

Due to the rehearsal requirements of the Badin Spring musical production of Annie, I will be forced to severely reduce all after-school activities until the conclusion of the production. The Music Boosters and I have been searching for quite some time for someone who could fulfill these rehearsal obligations, but no qualified candidate has become available. I apologize for the negative impact this will have on our performing groups, but I simply cannot rehearse every group fully in the time allotted. I hope that our students will remain enthusiastic about their instruments and that they will work on their own toward our performance goals in April and May.

Please find below the February – March rehearsal schedule for your group below.

                                                Thank You,

Badin Music Notes
Keeping Badin's Music Families In Tune!
October 25, 2009
Playoff Scenario
Here's the way Badin COULD still make the playoffs:

1) They MUST beat McNicholas
2) Fenwick MUST beat Carroll and Ross MUST beat Northwest
3) 2 of the following 3 teams MUST lose:
- Miami East (playing 9-0 Ansonia)
- West Jefferson (playing 8-1 Liberty Union)
- Bishop Ready (playing a 7-2 team)

If these things happen, Badin could still be a #7 or #8 seed in the playoffs. We'll have to wait and see!

Music Update 10/22/09

Badin Music Notes
Keeping Badin's Music Families In Tune!
October 22, 2009
My Apologies...
I am sorry that I have not sent this week's update sooner. Both of the boys have been sick, and I have been kept very busy running between doctors and pharmacies.

On that note...

I will NOT be at Badin after 6th Period (F Period) on Friday because I must take Jordan to Cincinnati Children's for a neurological consult. If you need to take instruments home, you MUST take them no later than the end of Concert Band class on Friday or you will be locked out.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
Parky's Farm
Despite the nasty weather last week, Parky's Farm was a fun time. Thanks to Sarah Begley for pinch-hitting as our 2nd "Chaperone" for the evening.

Currently, we have reached our "minimum" number for Sunday night, but I would hope that we could have another 2-3 students and/or adults sign up in order to cover us in case of call-offs (like those we had on Friday).

If you turned in a liability waiver for last Friday, you need to fill out another one for Sunday!

See you there!
Football, Marching Band and Drumline...
The Badin football team is currently ranked 6th in the Region, which would make them a playoff team if the season ended today. Plan to have a Marching Band rehearsal on Friday, October 30 from 3:00 - 4:00 to prepare for playoffs. We will use the Chicago/Styx/Doobie Brothers show as the playoff program.

Also, plan on having an AWAY football game on Friday, November 6 for the 1st round of playoffs. In all likelihood this game will take place at a location AT LEAST 2 hours away from Badin. More details about report time, meals, and other considerations will be announced once the playoff picture is certain.

************************************************************
To prepare for Open House on November 1, we will have 3 Music Room clean-up days: Wed. Oct 28 from 2:30 - 5:00, Thurs. Oct 29 from 2:30 - 5:00, and (If needed) Friday, October 30 from the end of Marching Band until 5:00.

Badin Music Notes

Keeping Badin's Music Families In Tune!

October 13, 2009
Parky's Farm
We have reached our minimum sign-up number for Friday night at Parky's Farm, but could use a few more. Parents are welcome as well as students.

Remember to arrive by 5:00 PM, and dress for the weather as most of the activities are outdoors.

In case of very bad weather (not just sprinkles), the event may be canceled. If in doubt, check the Badin Music blog after 4:00 on Friday, OR call this number for information:513 - 728-3551 ext 355

Football Stuff
This Saturday is the LAST HOME football game of the season. All should report to Badin by 6:00 PM to load equipment and change into dress uniform. The bus leaves at 6:30 PM.

The Senior Night activities begin at 7:00 at the stadium.

Badin is currently rated 9th in the region's computer-points rankings. The top 8 teams qualify for playoffs, so the team is still very much alive. Keep your Friday nights open for possible playoff games in November.

The 1st Round game would be at the higher-seeded school, which right now would appear to be either Coldwater or St. Henry. Either way, it's about 2 hours by yellow bus (each way).

Due to Parky's Farm, there will be NO MARCHING BAND rehearsal on Friday. Also, there will be no marching band next Friday, either. The next Marching Band rehearsal will be on Friday, October 30 UNLESS the team has been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs at that point.

Other Items....
There will be NO DRUMLINE REHEARSAL on Wednesday, October 14 or Thursday, October 15.

Badin Music Notes

Keeping Badin's Music Families In Tune!

September 13, 2009
Changes For Friday, 9/18
On Friday, September 18, there will be NO SCHOOL at Badin High School and NO BAND at St. Joseph School due to a Badin Faculty In-Service.

However, there WILL BE a Marching Band rehearsal beginning at 3:15 PM (note time change).

Also, the show plans for this week have also changed. This week's music will be a reprise of the Week 1 Rolling Stones program, with a different percussion feature. The 70's program with Color Guard feature will be moved back to the 10/17 performance. This should allow everyone more time to prepare for the new program.

"Don't Count Your Playoffs Before They're Hatched!"
While Badin's 3-0 start HAS unofficially [the Official ratings don't begin for 2 more weeks] placed Badin in the #2 spot in Division V, region 20, don't assume that the playoffs are automatic.

1) Nearly 1/3 of the 30 teams in the region are currently 3-0

2) The next 2 games are against Alter (3-0) and C-J (2-1), both are perennial playoff powerhouses in higher divisions than Badin.

3) Badin's opponents of weeks 1-3 now have a combined record of 2-7, so it remains to be seen whether Badin's team is really as good as they have looked so far.

Keep hoping, and keep cheering, but don't assume the playoffs yet. There's still a lot of season to go!
